Our bus to Salento with a busted suspension. 20 minutes prior, I was wondering how often the buses broke down. |
The view of Salento from the top of a hill. Que bonita! |
The mountains to the left of the town. |
Descending the hill. |
The town center. Lots of tourists enjoying the nice weather. |
The awesome jungle of hammocks at our hostel. |
Today we traveled to the small city of Salento, North of Armenia. The 40 minute $1.50 bus ride was fine until the suspension broke down. Thankfully we only had to wait a few minutes for another bus to pick us up. Salento is really nice! It's snuggled up against a beautiful mountain range and the air is oh so fresh. Also, our $6 hostel is very nice and its where I've seen my first ever coffee tree. The berry is very sweet and the bean doesn't taste anywhere near as good as it tastes after roasting it. We spent most of the day walking around and exploring the city. Being so small, we were able to see a huge majority of the city in a single day. Not sure if it was the altitude or dehydration or from drinking the tap water but during dinner I became very lightheaded and dizzy. I struggled to get outside for fresh air and passed out going down the stairs. Apparently I was only out for a few seconds before I came to. Most likely suffered a concussion but I'm feeling much better now and I'm not too worried about it (and you shouldn't be worried either, Dad). I'll be good as new by tomorrow morning and look forward to traveling to Pareira tomorrow to hang out on Fabienne's friend's brother's coffee farm.
