There was an incoming storm. We watched the lighting and rain come rolling in as people put away all the horses. |

2.5 hour wait at the bus station. You bet your ass we bought an 8 year old bottle of wine for $12 and did shots out of medicine cups. |
Today was our last day in Bogota. Currently writing this blog from a bus that is taking us 7 hours west to Armenia where we'll be exploring coffee farms and mountains and lakes and volcanoes. Bogota was really amazing. Today we explored Monserrate which is the mountain peak on the east side of Bogota. Incredible views of the city and the surrounding landscape! There's been a forest fire that has been burning since before we arrived. It was really interesting seeing it from 9000 feet above see level and seeing the smoke funnel into the city. Helicopters have been working around the clock dumping water onto the fire. I'm hoping that between their efforts and recent rain that it will be put out soon. After that we headed to the museum of gold. There were 3 entire floors full of gold and clay artifacts from all of the various areas and civilizations that existed in the area. Really incredible stuff. Then we headed back to the hostel to grab our bags and spend a few hours with the employees and fellow travelers. We did some climbing and yoga and some acrobatic acts that I need to ask Fabienne what the term for it is. It's always so tough moving on when you're just getting to know people and you want to stay and spend more time with them. That's sort of the nature of this type of traveling though and it needs to be understood and appreciated for what it is. Tomorrow brings a new day and I'm excited to wake up in Armenia!
