Brace yourself and your mobile data limits, this is going to be a doozy of a post...
(I used to try and only post 1 photo per day, BUT HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO SEE THE WORLD THAT WAY?!)

The hike begins. Backpack for scale. Water for survival (No water access until you reach to Colorado River) |
Stand on the inside of trail, follow mule guide's instructions. Avoid poop and pee while hiking. |
The South Kaibab Trail, down into the big hole. |
Red Rock dusty trail, seemingly dropping off into oblivion. |
This guy... Doing its thang. Queue whip noise |
The trail, the view. |
The black bridge crossing over the Colorado. |
My cave! View of the bridge from my new home. |
View of my cave from outside. |
2 beautiful sunsets in a row?!? That deity must be pleased with my life choices. |
The view of the bridge and stars from my bed. No moon = spectacular star gazing. |
A small twig fire was all I needed to illuminate my home and allow me to read. |
Yesterday I hiked to the highest point in Arizona. Today I hiked to the lowest point in Arizona. My legs hurt... a lot. Took the South Kaibab trail down to the Colorado. Given that I hate registering and paying to sleep outside on planet Earth, I needed to find an inconspicuous place to stay the night. Well by George, I found a cave! Sunset once again blew my mind. Since it gets dark at 5:30, I ended up reading some Edward Abbey (his essay on the Grand Canyon seemed appropriate) and drinking most of my beer (my pack needed some serious lightening for the days to come). In the security and solitude of my cave, sleep came easy.
