Day 310 - Welcome To Colorado

Made it to Lafayette, Colorado! Jacquie and I hiked around the local reservoir (also known as lakes in CO). Then headed to her bar for a drink followed by some flights at Avery Brewing. Tasty beers for sure!!

Day 309 - Rushin' to Rushmore

I think the mountain looked better before we screwed it all up
Ohhh, look at the obscure framing. Really fun problem (maybe V4?)
Free camping next to Mt. Rushmore? Sweet! Spent the night in the snow with a couple who is driving from Oregon to New Hampshire. I love chatting with fellow travelers and sharing stories (and showing off the Saturn). Bushwacked through the woods in search of some sweet boulders. Dropped my phone and broke it. Found the boulders, climbed a few, then navigated back using the sun's position in the sky. Fun times. Handwriting some directions to get me to Colorado tomorrow!

Day 308 - Das Badlands

Revisited the Badlands today. It was cold, rainy and windy and I couldn't have had a better time. No people and plenty of exploring. Plus the clouds made for some cool photos. Felt great to be out of the car and stretching my legs.

Day 307 - Whoopsies

No phone. Starbucks selfie time [V0]
My original intention for this post was to complain about losing 4 hours of driving because I forgot to take my climbing gear out of Jenna's car. An annoying setback, but I powered through it. Drove a total of 13 hours. However, I'm now sitting at Starbucks outside of Mt. Rushmore park with a broken phone and therefore no photo evidence of Day 307. It survived a 20 foot fall onto solid rock earlier in the year, but today it fell 2 feet and decided it was done with life. Debating whether I should get it fixed/replaced right away, or go sans phone for a bit to get the true road trip experience. If I choose the latter, I'll need to buy an atlas and find a solution for music.

Day 306 - Devil's Lake

Big Red (tall slab) [V1]
Bouldered in Devil's Lake with Jenna! Although it was extremely difficult to find specific boulders scattered about the talus fields, the weather was amazing and we had a great time hiking and exploring the park. Later met up with her friend Heather and checked out some cool bars in the neighborhood.
